Brasília is the capital of hope, and it's from there that Flamengo's newest youth academy prospect comes. At 19, after excelling with CFZ-DF, Carlyle dreams of a successful future at Gávea. Last week, he played his first match with the professional team in the federal capital and performed exceptionally well, scoring a goal in the 3-0 victory over Brasília FC.

Coming from the club founded by Zico, he hopes to achieve as much as possible what Galinho achieved while wearing the sacred jersey. To achieve this, he already knows what he needs to do: work, work, and work. In an interview with Flamengo's official website, Carlyle spoke about the beginning of his career, his arrival at the club, and his introduction to the Red-Black Nation.

Flamengo Official Website: How did you start your career?
Carlyle:
I played in my hometown, São Luis de Montes Belos, in Goiás. From there, I went to São Paulo, where I played for Campinas and Limoeiro. Then, I signed with CFZ, in Brasília, and there I even played professionally.

\

Website: It was at CFZ that you experienced your best form, including scoring twice against Flamengo in the São Paulo Cup. Was that the most important game of your life?
Carlyle:
It was the most important game, without a doubt. It was thanks to that game that I'm here today, fulfilling my dream of wearing the Flamengo jersey. The whole team was strong and performed very well. Thank God, I scored both goals and had a good performance.

\

Website: What do you have to say about the partnership that CFZ has established with Flamengo?
Carlyle:
I don't know the CFZ in Rio very well. I've only trained there a few times, and I don't know how Flamengo will handle this. But I believe it's a great move for everyone involved. I'm here today, and in Brasília, we have other very good players also looking for an opportunity. Who knows, maybe with this partnership they can also make it to Flamengo? Plus, Zico is a special guy who can always help.

\

Website: How is your life in these first months at Flamengo?
Carlyle:
I'm very happy. I had a few opportunities to play and was very well received. Everyone treated me very well, without exception, from the players to the managers. I was treated incredibly well and I hope to reciprocate that kindness.

\

Website: And is the adaptation to Rio de Janeiro going well?
Carlyle:
It couldn't be better. Rio is a wonderful city, as everyone says. I'm living alone in Recreio, and I'm very happy here.

\

Website: Right after your first game as a Flamengo professional, you returned to Brasília and received a standing ovation. Did you expect such affection?
Carlyle:
Absolutely not. They caught me by surprise. I don't even know who threw that whole party at the airport. At the stadium, they chanted my name. It was a really nice feeling.

\

Site: On the field, you came on, played well, and even scored a goal. Could you have done better?
Carlyle:
It was great, but even if I'd only played for three minutes and touched the ball once, I'd have been super happy. Fortunately, I got in well, scored a goal, and I think I did well in the match.

\

Site: How does Carlyle like to play? In the middle, up front, or on the wings?
Carlyle:
I like scoring goals. I play both in midfield and up front, like Renato Augusto, for example. I like coming from behind and finishing. I shoot a lot on goal, both from outside and inside the box.

Website: What do you have to say to the Flamengo fans, who are just getting to know you and hope to see you as a great player?
Carlyle:
Above all, fans can be sure that I will do my best to honor this jersey, which I wear with great joy. I know I won't be like Zico once was, but I dream of getting as close to him as possible. I'll work hard to achieve that. I want to be a Flamengo idol.
