With the 3-1 victory over Figueirense on Wednesday night (31), Mais Querido qualified for the round of 24 of the Copa Sudamericana. The next opponent will come from the clash between Real Garcilaso, from Peru, and Deportivo Palestino, from Chile. The first duel took place on August 2, in Peru, and ended in a 2-15 draw. The return match, in Chile, will be on September XNUMX.

Real Garcilaso is based in the city of Cuzco. Currently, "La Máquina Celeste," as it is also known, plays in the first division of the national championship. The blue and white club is one of the youngest in the country, founded only in 2009. Games are held at the Inca Garcilaso Stadium in La Vega, with a capacity of 45. 

The club's only title in history is the 2011 Copa Peru, which secured promotion to the Peruvian first division. In 2012, Real Garcilaso finished runner-up in the Torneio Decentralizado, securing a spot in the 2013 Copa Libertadores for the first time. At just three and a half years old, it was the youngest team to compete in the continental competition. Currently, the team from Paolo Guerrero's homeland is led by coach Freddy García and sits sixth in the national championship.

Garcilaso reached the Copa Sudamericana after failing to advance past the first stage of the Copa Libertadores, using criteria similar to those used in Brazil in relation to the Copa do Brasil.

On the other hand, Chile's Club Deportivo Palestino has more tradition. Games are held at the 12-capacity La Cisterna Municipal Stadium. Known as "El Tino," the club was founded on August 20, 1920, in Santiago, Chile, by a group of immigrants in homage to Palestinian culture. The club's colors are green, red, black, and white.

Palestino has won the Chilean championship twice. In 1955, they won their first national championship. In 1978, they won the competition for the second time. "El Tino" won the second division in 1952 and 1977 and also the Copa Chile in 1975 and 1977. 

In 2004, the club became a registered company, but the change in status didn't yield the expected results. In 2006, they finished 18th out of 20 teams, forcing them into a playoff against Fernández Vial, in which they managed to remain in the First Division. In the 2008 Clausura, they made a surprising comeback and eventually reached the tournament final, but were defeated by Colo-Colo.

The Chileans secured their spot through the combined points from the 2015/2016 Apertura and Clausura tournaments. Currently, the team is coached by Nicolás Córdova and is in fifth place in the national championship.
