Correa shows excitement when talking about Flamengo

Correa's documentation still needs to arrive, as Flamengo's executive director of football, Zico, said, but the midfielder is already thinking like a Flamengo player. In an exclusive interview with the club's official website, he expressed his eagerness to meet up with old teammates and get back into the swing of things to help the Red-Blacks in their match against Botafogo, in the Brazilian Championship's return on July 14th.
Praised by Quintino's Galinho, Correa thanked the supporters for their words of support and introduced himself to the red-and-black fans. He explained how he feels most comfortable on the field, but emphasized that he can perform other roles if coach Rogério Lourenço so wishes.
"I'm happy with the praise I've received, especially from Zico. My role is as a defensive midfielder, but I can play as a defensive midfielder or even as a forward. I've played these roles wherever I've been and I don't see any problem in playing in any of the three," said Correa.
Regarding his physical condition, Correa, who recently left Atlético Mineiro's squad, where he was on loan, expressed no concerns. The player revealed that he is improving his individual form and hopes to be ready to take the field soon.
"I'm not sitting still. I know it's not the same, but I'm working on my own to stay in shape. I believe I'll be ready to play in two weeks, if the coach wants to count on me," said the midfielder.
And if he is already known to the club's biggest idol, having played in European football while Zico coached CSKA, in Russia, Correa also has acquaintances in the red-black squad.
"I've played with Michael, Love, and David at Palmeiras. I also played with Michael at Dinamo. But I know the rest of the squad as well. I'm tired of playing against everyone there. I remember that last year at Atlético, we fought for a long time there, at the top of the table," commented Correa, praising Flamengo's strength.
"This group didn't win the title last year for nothing. They demonstrated their capabilities, and I'm confident they'll have another great campaign. With the support of the fans, Zico's presence, which lends credibility to any project, and the dedication of the players, Flamengo has everything it needs to win the trophy again," he concluded, without first praising the sacred jersey.
