Correa calls for more efficiency in counterattacks

Midfielder praises Flamengo's defense, but believes Flamengo can improve in creative play

The numbers prove that scoring hasn't been a problem for Flamengo's squad. After all, after the World Cup, the Red-Blacks conceded just one goal in three matches. However, scoring goals is proving a bit more difficult for Rogério Lourenço's team. The team has scored exactly one goal per match during this period.

Midfielder Correa believes that this is precisely where the team needs to improve: when it comes to extending its lead after opening the scoring.

"We're defending well. We're not able to suddenly steal the ball and create a quick counterattack to kill the game. We need to be a little more careful with the final pass and finishing," he said.

A very energetic player, as he becomes more integrated with the rest of the squad, Correa has demonstrated one of his main characteristics: he talks a lot with his teammates on the field.

"From the back, we have a better view of the field. This kind of conversation, this kind of guidance, is important. Not just from my side. It's crucial to know how to position yourself against the opponent, and any kind of conversation in there makes a difference," said the player, who sees the match against Internacional as a chance to recover the points lost to Avaí.

"Unfortunately, we failed to pick up two points at home, and that increases our responsibility for Sunday's match. Our record hasn't been favorable at home, even with the fans, and we'll try to correct our mistakes to pick up as many points as possible," he added.
