The Flamengo girls were crowned champions of the Rio de Janeiro Futsal Championship last Friday (July 18th), defeating Mackenzie 7-5. The red-and-black team won the title in their first participation in the Rio de Janeiro Championship, with a newly formed squad. In the second half of the year, the competition will be for the State Championship, and the Flamengo girls proved they have everything to be among the big favorites.

Another title came from the under-09 boys, who defeated the strong Mangueira team in the final. The team returns to the court in August for the start of the State Championship.

The U-17 team, which competed for the category title against Fluminense, finished second. Even with the final score of 10-5, the match was well-contested. The red-and-black team wasn't among the favorites in the category, but after eliminating Vasco and Portuguesa, title contenders, it demonstrated its quality. The team returns to the court in August for the State Championship.

The senior team lost 4-3 to Cabo Frio last Saturday and is eliminated from the Campeonato Carioca. Needing a win to take the game to overtime, where a draw would have been favorable, the team constantly sought a goal, managing to open the scoring late in the first half. With a more experienced team, Cabo Frio managed to keep their composure and turn the game around and maintain the favorable score. Flamengo pulled one back late in the match, but the 4-3 defeat eliminated the red-and-black team from the championship, sending Cabo Frio to the final against Teresópolis.
