After victory over Goiás, this Sunday (July 26.07), Coach Cristóvão Borges spoke to the press at the Serra Dourada stadium. Flamengo secured the victory with a goal from Marcelo Cirino.
The coach attributed the victory to the tactical adjustments the team made in the second half. "In the first half, we weren't able to implement what we had planned and execute it effectively to defend. That's what we corrected. We were better in the second half and deserved to win," he stated.
Flamengo secured their third consecutive victory and their next match is at the Maracanã against Santos next Sunday (August 02.08nd). Tickets are already on sale for club members. - I had said he was going to score. Luckily it was in a difficult game and he decided the match. That's good, he's more relieved, we're all happy, and there will certainly be more goals to come.
Striker's assist
- Flamengo needs to score. When the opportunity arises, Guerrero will score. In the first half, given the difficulties we faced, he was hampered. We didn't get forward much, he lacked support, and the ball wasn't reaching him. The second half was different; he participated more, the plays flowed, and the team was better. We got forward, and he needs support, the ball needs to reach him, and he will continue scoring goals.
Third consecutive victory
"The championship demands this; we need a winning streak and consistency. We've lost a lot of ground and we have to recover. To recover, it has to be with victories. This streak gives us more motivation and confidence. This game was away, the next one is at home, in front of our fans. They did it in the game against Grêmio and they'll do it again on Sunday. We're becoming more and more confident."
Maracanã packed
Our fans are always there, they always help and push us forward. It was like that against Grêmio, at a time when we really needed them, they were there. And they'll certainly be there on Sunday. We have to get results to attract the fans. Now we're starting to do that. When we have difficulties, they show up. Everyone will definitely be there on Sunday.
Stronger team
- It's a moment where the team has shown a reaction. It's improving, getting stronger and consolidating. Everything that happens has to come together with victories to strengthen it.
