Coach Cristóvão Borges participated in a press conference after the match between Flamengo and Vasco, this Wednesday (August 19). Flamengo lost the first leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16 by 1-0, but will still play the second leg next Wednesday (August 26).

Check out the main points of the interview:

As is usually the case in these matches between Flamengo and Vasco, it was a very competitive, tightly contested game. Ultimately, the technical quality wasn't the best; it was mostly about willpower, resulting in a game with little creativity. Creative players were always heavily marked. This led to a disjointed game with many fouls, an increased number of misplaced passes, and little progress in the game's development.

Head held high
My focus is on reviewing the things we didn't do well in today's game. The team had very good movement and good passing quality, but in today's game we had difficulties getting out of their marking and therefore had little possession, which is usually good. There were many misplaced passes, the team had difficulties. Of course, we will review this in the coming days and prepare for the game against São Paulo FC.

Ederson
As we know, this is only the third game he's played for an extended period. He's coming off pre-season training and isn't yet in rhythm. In the games he's come on, he's been very motivated, wanting to contribute, to play, and he's been doing that in the best way possible. This is the second game he's started, and because it was a game like this, with everyone heavily marked, and players in his position even more so, he struggled a bit. He had difficulty getting past the marking, like the rest of the team, and it was difficult for him to play. Also, due to a lack of rhythm, he was already quite tired and complained that his legs felt heavy, which is why I substituted him.

Ha ha
He's been working very well, he has good passing quality, and we needed to improve that. That's why we chose him.

Brasileirão
We're going to start the second half of the Brazilian championship aiming to do things very differently from the first. We know we can and we will do it because the team has improved.

Wallace
It's a 50/50 tackle, there's no time for him to think. It was a 50/50 tackle and normally the defender goes in hard, but the attacker was faster and he already had a yellow card.
