Coach Cristóvão Borges lamented the defeat to Atlético-MG this Saturday (June 20.06), but hopes for a comeback in the next round. He recalled the sequence of the Brazilian Championship against Vasco and hopes the team will get a positive result in the Clássico dos Milhões. During the post-match interview, he also spoke about the debuts of Emerson Sheik and Alan Patrick.
Check out the main topics of Cristóvão Borges' press conference:
Defeat
- We were very upset about losing. We were all sad, because it's unpleasant, especially after two consecutive victories, we were returning to Maracanã... We were even more upset about that.
Sheik
"He played well in the game, which was very dynamic. I was worried he wouldn't play the full 90 minutes, but he played well, moving around, and finding space. The substitution I made, moving him forward, was to change the reference point because he was heavily marked."
Did Time grow with Alan Patrick?
"For what we needed in the game, yes, because we didn't have the connection between midfield and attack we wanted. We started the midfield with Canteros, Márcio, and Everton, and we were making mistakes when it came to getting the ball out. Everyone was positioning themselves too much in Atlético's defense, and that made things difficult."
Millions Classic
"Two teams with huge needs, and the game becomes vital for both. We'll have an extra week to work. We've been making the most of it, but it's a shame we had such a difficult time fitting in today. I have no doubt we'll improve, and of course that will happen. Confidence is gained with positive results. A loss, of course, puts a damper on that. We'll try to change this situation by trying to do well in a regional derby, a rivalry, and come away with the victory."
