Coach Cuca was introduced this afternoon, at the opening of the Flashop store, in downtown Rio, as the new Flamengo manager for the 2009 season. Showing great optimism, the new coach stated that the red-black team will fight for all the titles next year.

"I'm very happy to be returning to Flamengo. It will be a great challenge, and I believe I'm ready. I have great faith that we will have a great year. I came to the Club to win every competition we'll compete in. We'll start with the Carioca, then the Copa do Brasil, the Brasileirão, and the Sudamericana. We want all the titles. I can't think differently, because this is Flamengo. We want to win everything."

Cuca praised Fla's squad and said that the Club will make few signings for the next season.

"The group is very good, one of the best in Brazil. We just need to trim the number of players so we can work with 28 of them. I'm doing a detailed analysis of the squad so as not to be unfair to any player. We have a technically strong and very experienced group. We'll be making few signings, so we have to choose very carefully. I've already asked the board for some reinforcements."
