Cuca: “I’m quite optimistic”
The coach praises the red-black team's preparation and says that Flamengo is ready to face Friburguense.
By Flamengo Archive - inAt the press conference after tactical training this afternoon, coach Cuca showed great optimism when asked about his expectations for the 2009 season and Flamengo's debut in the Campeonato Carioca.
"I'm really optimistic. This debut will be very special. I can't wait to walk into the Maracanã and see the team play. I miss being there on the sidelines. I've already told the players that I want to win, and I'm counting on their help to make us champions. This won't be my year, nor Obina's, nor any other player's. This will be our year, Flamengo's year."
Cuca said that Flamengo will be strong to face Friburguense, Sunday, at 17 pm, at Maracanã.
"When you get a ready-made team, it becomes much easier. We can already have rehearsed plays in the first match, and that's great. We practice some variations, which is also great."
The Flamengo manager praised the professionalism of midfielder Willians, who will make his first appearance for Flamengo on Sunday.
"He's a mature player, despite his young age. He's always very focused and serious. He's extremely professional and ready to help Flamengo."
