After this morning's technical training session in Gávea, coach Cuca guaranteed that Flamengo will be very strong in the final stretch of the Campeonato Carioca. According to the coach, the red-and-black team is very difficult to beat in decisive moments.

“We had three good wins and a stumble against Tigres. Sometimes this happens so we can have a scare and then a little joy later on. Sometimes it's better to trade one point for three later on. We are the team that has scored the most points in this Carioca Championship. We are going through a challenging time and we will come back strong. When Flamengo arrives, it's difficult to stop them. I'm sure we're going to explode in this final stretch.”

Cuca said he doesn't plan to make any changes to the team and stated that he expects a great performance from Flamengo in the derby against Vasco.

“If I make any changes, I’ll be admitting I made a mistake. But what mistake? Is someone better out? We are confident in what we do. The team is good and will explode at the right time, in the final sprint, it’s our time. I’m confident in a great game and in the final stretch. I don’t care if I’m the favorite or not, I want to win and I’ll go for it on the field.”

The coach made a point of praising the professionalism of the entire Flamengo squad.

"We have to praise the professionalism of these people. Even in difficult times, we don't see anyone arriving late; everyone works hard and wants to be champion as much as I do."
