Cuca: "Denis Marques is fast and finishes well"

The coach regrets not being able to immediately count on the athlete, who will only be able to play from August onwards.

In an interview with the club's official website, moments before Denis Marques' official presentation, coach Cuca described the new signing's characteristics: "He's a second striker who works well with the first striker, but he can also play as the first striker when he's not playing. He drops in well on the wings and can play a little deeper. He's quick, a good finisher, and a goalscorer," he summarized.

Earlier, in a press conference, the coach explained why the reinforcement is important, despite the good form of the attacking duo Emerson and Adriano: "With the South American, there will be a lot of games. And there are always injuries, suspensions, or a bad run of form. If he were fit to play, he would already be an option today."

The striker, whose contract with Flamengo runs until 2010, will only be able to play starting August 3rd, the date set by the Brazilian Football Confederation for the opening of the transfer window for international signings. According to vice president of football Kleber Leite, this deadline represents what he called an unfair battle between Brazilian clubs and foreign clubs. "I've already spoken with CBF president Ricardo Teixeira, who says it's unfair," Leite said.
