The Brazilian Championship is in its final stretch and preparation at Ninho do Urubu continues intensely for the match against Santos, which will be held next Thursday (15), at 17 pm, at Maracanã. Before training this Tuesday (13), midfielder Cuéllar gave a press conference and stated that everyone in the squad still believes in winning the competition.

“We come here every day to work, to improve on the mistakes we made in the games, and we are still thinking about the title. We still have a mathematical possibility; we have to keep fighting until the end. Continuing to fight is very important for us. We still have a chance to compete, and we are here every day working towards that.”

The Colombian emphasized that the Flamengo team is looking to close the gap on the leader and hopes that Flamengo will have a chance to lift the trophy in the final round.

"We are looking for the leader, obviously with great respect for those below us. We are thinking about closing the gap to arrive at the last game with a chance of winning the title," said the Flamengo midfielder.

Speaking about qualifying for the 2019 Libertadores Cup, the number 8 player highlighted that it is one of the goals set since the beginning of the season and reinforced the request for focus in the final matches.

“Our idea from the beginning of the year is to be in the Libertadores Cup and fighting for important things. The Brazilian Championship is complicated for that reason. Until the end, everyone is fighting. We have to be focused so that those behind us don't get in our way.”

Analysis of the classic match and confrontation against Santos.

"We were a little below the level (against Botafogo) that we had been showing, unfortunately we didn't maintain the rhythm. In the second half we were better. We have to be more focused, it's a very complicated game for us. We have to correct our mistakes and show what Flamengo is all about. We are a quality squad. We recognize that, we think about that and we're coming back with our heads in the right place to win the three points against Santos."

Pay attention at the start of the matches.

“It’s something we’ve been working on. It’s been happening, we’ve been analyzing it, and we need to improve. We have to be focused from the start because we know the quality of our attacking players. They are capable of drawing games; unfortunately, we couldn’t do that against Botafogo. It’s something that hinders us as the game progresses, creating a bit of anxiety in decision-making. We have to be careful not to concede goals too early.”

Place in the Libertadores

“We are not considering the possibility of missing out on the Libertadores Cup at all. We have a qualified squad. It would be very bad, but we are not thinking about that now. We want to beat Santos, get closer to the leader and, consequently, to a spot in next year's Libertadores Cup.”
