Looking ahead to the match against Palmeiras in the Brazilian Championship, midfielder Cuéllar gave a press conference this Tuesday morning (12), in the Journalist Victorino Chermont Press Room, at Ninho do Urubu. The number 8 player discussed the duel against the São Paulo team, valid for the 12th round of the Brazilian Championship.
"That's our idea. We want to build up that cushion for the decisive part of the Championship. It won't just be important in the Brazilian Championship, but also in the Copa do Brasil and the Libertadores. We respect Palmeiras, but we're going there to win. It won't be easy, but we're in first place and we're going to try to make them respect our leadership."
Cuéllar also spoke about the motivation of stepping onto the field wearing the Sacred Mantle (Flamengo's jersey).
"Playing in the Flamengo jersey is the motivation that everyone needs to have when they step onto the field. We're going to have a tough opponent, the stadium will be packed, but we'll keep looking to gain an advantage in the lead."
Finally, the Colombian spoke about the excitement of renewing his contract with Flamengo and looked ahead to the future with the club.
"I was very happy, I'm excited to stay here at Flamengo for longer. It's a dream to play here. For me, the recognition not only from the board but also from the fans since I arrived in Brazil has been important. I will continue to always give my best. I still have dreams to fulfill and I hope to stay at Flamengo for a long time."
