Leandro Damião spoke to reporters at the post-training press conference at the George Helal Training Center. After debuting with the Manto in Flamengo's last match, the forward said he "got butterflies in his stomach" and commented on the healthy competition for position with his teammates.
Check out the main excerpts from the interview:
After the premiere
Those butterflies from the debut are gone. Unfortunately, we didn't win, but I've been working hard and dedicating myself to making the most of every opportunity. Practice matches are important for me, and for Diego and Vizeu, who give me more confidence.
Healthy competition for position
They have a lot of options up front, not just Guerrero and I. There's Vizeu, who's doing very well too.
Diego
A star, unique, and tactically very good. He played for a long time in Europe. Alan Patrick is also very good tactically. We up front just open up spaces for them to play.
Re-edit best phase
That's what I want: to be able to score. Unfortunately, the goals haven't come, but when the ball starts going in, they say it's that Leandro Damião.
Opportunity
My life has always been like this: with difficulties and few opportunities, turning professional at almost 18 years old. I've always dedicated myself to taking advantage of the small opportunities. For this game, we don't know yet. There's my choice and Vizeu's.
Weight of the Mantle
I've played for several clubs in Brazil, for the national team, I hope it doesn't weigh on me.
Play style
I can only tell by playing. You have to know how to balance things out. We want to give our all, but I hope to play a balanced game too.
Goal in the training match
That's the center forward's job, not just Guerrero and I. These practice matches are important, but they're completely different from official matches because there's pressure and the crowd is against you. So it's different.
