Flamengo officially presented defender David on Monday afternoon as the club's newest signing for the 2009 season. At 22 years old, the defender, formerly of Panathinaikos, Greece, said he had always dreamed of wearing the Flamengo shirt and promised to show great desire on the field to win the affection of the fans.

"I'm fulfilling a childhood dream of playing for Flamengo. A club with a huge fan base and a fantastic history in football. I've always wanted to play here, and now I have this opportunity. I'll work hard and dedicate myself completely to earn the fans' trust. My goal is to help Flamengo win the Brazilian title."

The defender highly praised the quality of the red-black squad.

"The quality of the squad weighed heavily in my decision to sign with Flamengo. The group is very good and has exceptional players. The Brazilian Championship is very difficult, and the difficult times we're going through are normal. Now the team is growing, and we'll try to get closer to the leaders. We have the team and the fans to compete at the top. Flamengo will fight for the title."
