New players arriving at Flamengo already know: it's customary to go through the traditional gauntlet and quickly earn a nickname within the squad. And one of the main figures responsible for this "tradition" is the always good-humored defender David. The defender is one of the most playful in the group and gladly embraces this responsibility.
But since the preseason period is full of serious work preparing for the upcoming year, he hasn't yet had time to think about initiation rituals for the newcomers. For now...
"We'll gradually learn each other's nicknames. They're arriving, they still have to go through the hallway before we can begin the rituals," joked the player, who noted that his time in Londrina has been quite useful.
"The work is going very productively. We've worked well in these first few days. We'll try to do everything in the best way possible to start the season well," he noted.
On Sunday (January 09.01th), David and the entire Flamengo team will have their first test of the year: they face Londrina at 16 pm at the Estádio do Café in a friendly match. For the defender, the game will be a good way to start the season.
"This type of friendly match helps a lot. We'll test a bit how the team is doing. Of course, this game doesn't say what Flamengo will be like for the rest of the season, but it's good for the team," he added.
This Friday (07.01), the red-and-blacks will train in the morning at SM Sports, then visit the Londrina city hall and, in the afternoon, will have an activity at the venue of the weekend's match, the Estádio do Café.
