Smiles and jokes have always been a part of David's daily life. But there's no denying that his happiness is even greater after extending his contract with Flamengo for another four years. The player and the club reached an agreement last month, and finally, last Sunday (September 05.09), he returned to the starting lineup for the Rubro-Negro.

Happy, he left the field satisfied with the fact that the team had not conceded any goals and also with the affection he received from the fans at Maracanã.

"I was very happy to be back in Flamengo's starting lineup and to have helped the team keep a clean sheet. I was already missing that feeling of playing in front of the fans at Maracanã. I left the team for off-field reasons, not because of my performance," he said.

Looking to return to the starting lineup, the defender believes that his calmness was crucial at a time when his stay at Flamengo was still in doubt.

"Flamengo's board tried to reassure me, I always trusted them, but I was in a good moment, with my place in the starting lineup solidified, and I wanted to play. It was a difficult period, in which I needed to keep my head on straight to get through it," he added.
