Arrascaeta joins Flamengo! The club has announced another signing for the season. With a contract until December 2023, the Uruguayan attacking midfielder was officially announced as Flamengo's new signing this Saturday.

Giorgian Daniel de Arrascaeta Benedetti, 24, is one of the most skilled midfielders of the current Uruguayan generation. He joined Defensor Sporting in Montevideo in 2008 to play for the youth team, winning the national championship in 2012, scoring 10 goals in the U-19 category.

In 2012, he made his debut in the Uruguayan first division, coming on as a second-half substitute in the derby against Danúbio, wearing the number 19 jersey. In the second half of the season, he played 14 of the 15 matches of the 2013 Clausura, where he won the Uruguayan championship. In his seventh game, he scored his first professional goal, against El Tanque Sisley.

In 2015, De Arrascaeta arrived at Cruzeiro, where he won the Copa do Brasil twice, in 2017 and 2018, and the Mineiro in 2018.

Uruguay national team

De Arrascaeta was called up to the Uruguayan national team for the first time in August 2014, after the World Cup in Brazil. His name was frequently mentioned for the World Cup, but coach Óscar Tabárez didn't call him up. His first goal for the national team came against Guatemala in June 2015. Arrascaeta was part of the squad that played in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
