The first reinforcement of the 2024 season, midfielder Nicolás De La Cruz was presented on Friday afternoon (12), at Ninho do Urubu, and gave his first press conference as a Flamengo player. The Uruguayan, who will wear the number 18 shirt, expressed happiness in wearing the Sacred Mantle. Check out some excerpts:

First words
"It's a great pleasure to wear the colors of this great institution. There were many complications. This was always the decision, to wear this jersey. Being on this side is a great honor. They made the decision to count on me, to count on my services, and I knew they wanted me here at all times."

Anxiety about wearing the Mantle
"I'm very happy. I was looking forward to meeting my teammates and the staff. There are a lot of people working here. As time goes by, I'll get to know everyone. This is the environment in which we'll work to achieve important things."

Position you most enjoy playing
"I feel comfortable anywhere in the midfield. It's the coach's decision as to where I can help the team. Wherever he puts me, I'll try to do my best to help the team."

Why did you choose Flamengo?
- I made the decision some time ago with my family. I felt the club wanted me, and that was crucial for me. The project they presented me with was important, a multi-year contract, just like I wanted. I sought a long contract because it will allow me to gain many things.

First contact with Zico
- The first day I arrived, they told me Zico was here to welcome me. They asked me if I knew him, and of course I did. I know who he is, what he did for Brazilian football, and what he means to the club. It was a huge surprise that he knew me and my story. He's such an important person. This makes me really want to achieve individual and team successes.

Game pace
- I played my last match on December 22nd. I made a change. I'm a little tired, but I'm here. I'm ready. I've already trained with the group. And if the coach wants to give me minutes, I'm available for the matches.
