Back in the Campeonato Carioca, Flamengo beat Volta Redonda, in a comeback, 3-1 on Wednesday night (15), at Raulino de Oliveira. Mengão's goals were scored by Gabi (twice) and Pedro, in the second half's stoppage time. Now, the red-black team faces Resende on Saturday (18).

The game
Flamengo started the match by pressuring Volta Redonda's attacking play. When they had possession, the Flamengo team exchanged passes in the attacking half, looking for space in the opposing defense. In the 18th minute, Flamengo created a threat for the first time. Varela crossed from the right, but the defense cleared the ball at Arrascaeta's feet, and he fired a shot against the crossbar.

In the 33rd minute, Gabi took a shot from the edge of the box and nearly scored a stunning goal. The ball sailed just wide of the crossbar. Late in the first half, Volta Redonda counterattacked and opened the scoring with Luizinho: 1-0.

Rubro-Negro tried to react quickly. Dudu pushed Gabi inside the box, and the referee awarded the penalty. The number 10 himself went to take the shot, but goalkeeper Vinícius saved it in the right corner. Vitor Pereira's team went into halftime trailing.

Needing to turn the score around, Flamengo went all out against Volta Redonda. Everton Ribeiro came on for Gerson, who ended up hurting his ankle. In the 12th minute, Flamengo leveled the score! Everton Ribeiro passed to Pedro, who let the ball through. Gabigol then received the ball in the box and fired a powerful shot into the top corner of the goal: 1-1.

At 28, Gabi appeared decisively again and scored Flamengo's second goal and his second of the game! Arrascaeta provided a beautiful assist for the number 10, who dropped the ball to his left foot and fired a powerful shot high into the air, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance: 1-2.

With the score in their favor, the red-and-black team continued to attack in search of more goals. In the 42nd minute, Everton Ribeiro led a counterattack alongside Arrascaeta. The Uruguayan attempted a pass to the number 7, who managed to dribble past the goalkeeper but ended up coming away with the ball.

In stoppage time, Mengão sealed the victory with a third goal. Arrascaeta found Cebolinha on the left, and the number 11 sent a low cross into the box. Pedro, showing opportunism, simply tapped it into the net: 1-3.

Mais Querido returns to the field next Saturday (18) to face Resende, at 16 pm, at Raulino de Oliveira, in a delayed game of the 7th round of Cariocão.
