Gala afternoon at Maraca! In the return of the Brasileirão, Flamengo applied a resounding thrashing, coming from behind, over Vasco by 6 to 1, on the afternoon of this Sunday (2), in a classic valid for the seventh round of the national championship. Cebolinha, Pedro, David Luiz, Arrascaeta, Bruno Henrique and Gabi scored the red-black goals for the Nation's celebration.

With the result, Mengão took the lead in the competition with 14 points. In addition, the Rubro-Negro scored the biggest win in the history of the derby.

The game
As usual, Flamengo started the match valuing possession and exchanging passes in the attacking half. But it was Vasco who eventually took the lead with Vegetti, who struck a first-time shot from inside the box into Rossi's right corner: 1-0.

At a disadvantage, the red-and-black team had to push forward more in search of an equalizer, but struggled to penetrate Vasco's box. Until the 27th minute, Mengão leveled the score with a stunning goal! Arrascaeta won the challenge with Maicon, and the ball fell to Cebolinha, who fired a beautiful first-time shot into the corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance: 1-1.

And the comeback came soon after! From a short corner, Cebolinha showed skill as he entered the box, dribbled past the defender, and delivered a perfect cross for Pedro to chest home: 2-1.

In the closing stages of the first half, Viña delivered a beautiful pass to Gerson, who won the challenge and found himself free on the left side of the box. He unleashed a powerful shot that was well saved by Léo Jardim, who sent it out for a corner. Cebolinha stepped up to take the free kick and slotted it into the box for David Luiz to pick up first-time, scoring Mengão's third.

In stoppage time, after consulting VAR, the referee sent off defender João Victor for a hard foul on De La Cruz, leaving the Cruzmaltino team with ten men. The highlight of the first half was the Mais Querido's comeback, coming from behind and turning the game around.

With the numerical advantage, Flamengo returned for the second half, pressing Vasco's ball out. And it worked! Just five minutes in, the red-and-black team scored their fourth goal. Pedro controlled the ball with style and sent a pass over Vasco's defense, leaving Arrascaeta one-on-one with the goal. The number 14 flicked the ball past Léo Jardim and extended the lead to 4-1.

Vasco's Mais Querido threatened on two more occasions. The first time, the ball fell to Gerson, who fired a shot that bounced off Vasco's defense. Pedro then received the ball inside the box and shot, but the goalkeeper saved it.

In the 27th minute, Mengão scored their fifth goal after a brilliant play by Arrascaeta! The Uruguayan made a beautiful dribble in the midfield, dribbled past two defenders, and passed the ball to Bruno Henrique, who skillfully slotted it into the left corner of Léo Jardim's net: 5-1.

There was still time for a sixth! And it was Gabi's goal! Wesley raced down the right and crossed low for the number 99 to tap in, finishing off the derby with a resounding 6-1 rout. Mengão now leads the Brasileirão with 14 points.
