In the 19th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo defeated Avaí 2-1 on Sunday morning (24), at Ressacada, in Florianópolis. Both goals for the red-black team were scored by Pedro. Chilean Vidal came on in the second half and made his debut with the Manto Sagrado. With the result, Mengão achieved their third consecutive victory in the competition and totaled 30 points.

The game
The match began with both teams vying for possession. Four minutes in, Flamengo created a threat for the first time. Pedro made an individual play, cleared the defense, and shot. The ball sailed past Vladimir's right post.

In the 11th minute, Avaí opened the scoring, but after a VAR review, the referee signaled a foul by Bissoli on goalkeeper Santos and disallowed the goal. In the 17th minute, Everton Ribeiro delivered a great pass to Gabi, who adjusted her body and shot with her right foot. The ball went straight at the goalkeeper.

The red-and-black team continued to try to attack. In the 30th minute, Arrascaeta played a one-two with Pedro in the box, and the Uruguayan passed to Gabigol, who slotted the ball wide. Avaí, in turn, continued to pressure the red-and-blacks' ball out, making it difficult for them to build up offensive plays.

In the final dangerous play of the first half, Gabi crossed to Pedro, who headed the ball, forcing Vladimir to put it out for a corner. The teams went into the break without a change in the score.

In the first minute of the second half, Avaí opened the scoring with an Arthur Chaves header: 1-0. Mengão reacted quickly and tied the game in the 9th minute. Matheuzinho went to the byline and crossed into the box, Gabi deflected it and the ball fell to Pedro, who put it in the net: 1-1.

In the 27th minute, Arrascaeta delivered a great pass to Gabigol. The striker sprinted forward and found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot was weak. In the 32nd minute, Chilean Vidal came on for Everton Ribeiro and made his debut with the Sacred Mantle.

After much persistence, Mengão turned the game around in the 38th minute. Gabigol delivered a beautiful pass to Arrascaeta, who crossed perfectly for Pedro to head into the back of the net. It was the striker's second goal of the match: 1-2.

In a comeback, the Mais Querido secured an important victory to firmly close in on the top four of the competition. It's worth noting that this was Flamengo's first win at Ressacada in the Brasileirão.  

Next appointment
Mais Querido returns to the field on Wednesday (27) to face Athletico-PR, at 21:30 pm, at Maracanã, in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil.
