The game
Despite having more possession, Flamengo didn't have a strong first half. In the 33rd minute, Volta Redonda opened the scoring with a João Carlos header. Flamengo tried to pressure their opponents in search of an equalizer, but the team from the Steel City ended up ahead, 1-0.

In the second half, the Boys of the Nest came roaring back and equalized the score after just three minutes through João Lucas. The right-back took a shot from the edge of the box, but the ball deflected off the defense and deceived the goalkeeper: 1-1. In the 30th minute, Mengão turned the game around. Left-back Ramon went to the byline and crossed for Rodrigo Muniz. The center forward headed the ball beautifully, turning the game around: 2-1.

Volta Redonda still sought to equalize with Saulo in the 41st minute. But Flamengo didn't give up and, four minutes later, scored the third goal through Bill. The striker, who had just entered the match, hit a beautiful shot from outside the box to seal the 3-2 victory for Flamengo.

And now?
Mengão returns to the field on Wednesday (29) to face Fluminense, at 20:30 pm, at Maracanã, in a game valid for the fourth round of the Taça Guanabara.
