Back at the Olímpico with red and black skin and spirit
Silas returns to the Olímpico without any animosity and only thinking about leaving with the three points.
By From the official website team - inWhen he left Grêmio, coach Silas received criticism, but he took away only the 2010 state championship and the positive things he experienced. Currently with the Brazilian champions, he will return to the Olympic Stadium for the first time this Wednesday (September 22.09nd), when Flamengo faces the Tricolor Gaúcho, but he's not thinking about rematch against anyone. He just wants to leave with the three points under his belt.
Aware that the life of a coach, especially in Brazil, is full of hearsay, Silas made sure to make one thing clear: he has nothing against any Grêmio player. Even so, he'll do everything he can to help Flamengo emerge victorious.
"I don't take anything bad from Grêmio. In football, there's only one truth: being a champion. I became champion there after the team went three years without winning anything. And with Inter winning everything, which was even worse. They, like us, are overcoming their difficulties, they're progressing. They're a very strong team at the Olímpico, but I'm more concerned about my team. I want to see Flamengo's progress. I'm confident that we'll return from Porto Alegre with three points under our belts," said Silas, explaining some of the details of his departure from the Tricolor gaúcho.
"There were some very unpleasant things. A lot of things were said that weren't true, and the fans ended up arriving at my last game unhappy. They said I had signed with São Paulo. Everyone says this needs to change in Brazilian football, but it never does. That's just the way it is. But my numbers at Grêmio will never change."
Aware that he can help in this Wednesday's match, as he knows the Grêmio squad well, Silas rules out that this could be decisive.
"Just as I know Grêmio, the players there know how I work. In the tactical work before facing them, I even tried to pass on some things to my players here at Flamengo. The joy has returned, but we're still not in a comfortable situation. We'll play with the three points in mind, but a draw isn't a bad result," he concluded.
