Preparations for the third round of the Conmebol Libertadores group stage began on Monday afternoon (01) with Abel Braga at Ninho do Urubu. The coach led the training, but before the start of the activities, the athletes paid tribute to the professor.
"That was emotional. It brought me to tears. We had everything planned, the substitutions, etc. I hadn't realized there were eight homegrown players. If they manage their careers, they have everything they need for a good future."
"Fans should be proud of this group. They won't win everything, as people say. But they can be proud. Their moral values are very high," he added.
On medical advice, Abel did not lead the team in the Rio Cup final and spoke about the emotion of having to watch from home.
"There didn't need to be so much emotion. There was conviction, the game started being prepared on Wednesday. I had already said they were going to play. Everything was very well planned, considering the pros and cons. Is there anything more important than the victory yesterday? It was seeing all the starters there, without anyone having to say anything. They got together and went to the stadium to support."
The red-black commander took the opportunity to analyze Peñarol and warned that he will not be left out on Wednesday under any circumstances.
"Peñarol has a lot of weight. They improved a lot after their debut loss. I don't know if Flamengo has achieved three consecutive wins in the Libertadores. I couldn't miss out on this game."

Team evolution
We arrived wanting to improve what we felt wasn't working well in the past. I told them that. We had to do a little more. The fans bring 50, 60 to the stadium. They see that the team is connected. The players understand that; they're in a good mood.

I woke up relaxed, happy to be home. I watched my shows, read my books, had lunch as a family, and then watched the game, all dressed up (laughs). It's important to have a clear understanding of the club you're playing for.

With limited touches, but always putting pressure on the opponent. This took some time. You don't change your philosophy overnight. You have to do what your conscience tells you. They're understanding this. We've made good progress, but we're looking to improve.
