Deivid and Diogo sign with Flamengo
Rubro-Negro signs two attackers for the rest of the Brazilian Championship

Strikers Deivid and Diogo are officially Flamengo players as of this Thursday (19.08). Deivid terminated his contract with Fenerbahçe, from Turkey, and signed with the Rubro-Negro until the end of 2012. Diogo, in turn, was loaned by Olympiakos, from Greece, for one year. The two should be presented next week and arrive to complete the Rubro-Negro squad in the fight for the seventh Brazilian championship.
Excited about the positive outcome of both negotiations, Flamengo president Patricia Amorim thanked everyone involved for their efforts.
"First of all, I'd like to thank all the Flamengo employees and directors involved in this mission to meet all the demands in time for the closing of the window. It was a true team effort. I'm very pleased that this story has a happy ending. These are two excellent players who will come to further strengthen the great team we already have," said the director, followed by the executive director of football, Zico.
"It's very important to commend the efforts of everyone involved in the negotiations. They are two world-class athletes, and I hope they can be a great help to Flamengo. I hope they have the support of the fans, as they need to readapt to Brazilian football. I also have to mention that Deivid is 100% Flamengo, and Diogo, a player who is only 23 years old, is coming on loan, but with a pre-emption clause for the club," said Zico.
Deivid Hulk de Souza, 30, is from Rio de Janeiro, started out at Nova Iguaçu and has never hidden his passion for Flamengo since childhood. The player began his career with Santos in 1999 and has since played for major Brazilian clubs such as Corinthians and Cruzeiro, as well as Bordeaux in France, Sporting in Portugal, and Fenerbahçe in Turkey, where he even worked with Zico as a coach.
The club's sports equipment supplier, Olympikus, was Flamengo's partner in the negotiations with Deivid, who has two Brazilian Cups (2002 and 2003), two Brazilian Championships (2003 and 2004), one Mineiro (2003) and one Rio-São Paulo (2002), in addition to the 2007 Turkish Championship.
Diogo, meanwhile, is a promising Brazilian footballer who began to shine in 2007 while playing for Portuguesa. In that year's Série B, he scored 18 goals in 28 matches, was named the competition's best player, and was instrumental in Lusa's return to the top flight.
Early the following year, European clubs expressed interest in the player, but he remained at Portuguesa until the mid-year transfer window, when he was signed for €9 million by Olympiacos. In Greece, he received a star's welcome, and in 2009, he had a strong season, with six goals and eight assists in 29 games.
