The start of the evening this Monday (August 23.08) at Gávea was filled with hope. Hope that goals would return, that Flamengo would fight for the top spots in the Brazilian Championship, and that a new, successful attacking duo would soon be formed. Surrounded by positive expectations, Diogo and Deivid were officially introduced in the Salão Nobre alongside president Patricia Amorim, vice president of football Vinícius França, and executive director Zico.

"These are two players who passed Zico's approval, and Flamengo spared no effort to sign them. I'm very proud, as president of the club, to welcome them into our home. This is the most beloved club in Brazil, and today they are embraced by the Red-Black Nation, who will welcome them with great affection. I hope they have great success," said the president.

Vinícius França expressed confidence in the duo's success and stated that Flamengo's intention, if everything goes as planned, is to sign Diogo permanently next season. Deivid, in turn, will remain with the club until 2012.

"I'm sure Diogo will be amazing and on the same date next year we'll sign him permanently. Deivid will stay with us until 2012," he explained.

Zico, who was one of the main people responsible for the signings, was also optimistic and asked for the support of the Red-Black Nation for the duo.

"They are two great players and also great professionals, who will receive all the support from us and the fans. The fans are anxious, but confident and believe in their potential. They know the responsibility, as they have already been through many situations in football. They just need to be calm enough to work and show their worth on the field," he added.

Diogo will join the group on Tuesday, while Deivid will return to Turkey to resolve personal issues and will return on Friday (27/08). The former will wear the number 43 shirt, the same one worn by Petkovic last year, while the latter will wear the number 99 shirt, which he wore at Fenerbahçe.
