A period without scoring goals is common in the life of any striker. Therefore, Deivid, who is expected to make his debut with the Flamengo shirt next Sunday (05.09), against Santos, at Maracanã, knows well what Val Baiano and Leandro Amaral are going through, who have not yet managed to score goals for Rubro-Negro.
"During my time at Santos, I went five games without scoring, but when I started, I did well. I know what it's like to be in Val Baiano and Leandro's shoes. I think it's very annoying for a striker to go without a goal. Vanderlei told me to stay calm and play for the team, and the ball will come. That happened naturally, and I managed to score a goal, and from then on, everything flowed naturally," he recalled.
The striker believes that the team's reaction in the championship must begin as soon as possible if the team wants to continue fighting for a place in the 2011 Libertadores.
"The situation isn't good, we're four points from the relegation zone and eight from the top four. I think we're lacking a bit of luck. We're creating chances, and the results need to start coming. We know the responsibility, and I think this reaction needs to start on Sunday," said the player, who knows that playing in the Brasileirão isn't easy.
"To play in the Brazilian Championship, you have to be in good shape. It's one of the toughest leagues. I played in France and Turkey, and we know it takes time to get into shape. That time needs to be determined, but once everyone is in good shape physically, I think Flamengo has a great chance of competing for a spot in the Libertadores," he concluded.
