One of Flamengo's main hopes for goals, striker Deivid celebrated his 31st birthday this Friday, sweating it out in a tough training session at Ninho do Urubu, the club's training center in Vargem Grande. And on this first celebratory date he's spent wearing the shirt of his beloved club, the striker couldn't have asked for a better present than a victory in Sunday's derby against Vasco.

Therefore, the number 99 hopes to have a great performance and, who knows, score a goal – as he did against Fluminense. Experienced, he is considered by coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo a fundamental piece in the Flamengo team and wants to live up to the coach's confidence with great determination on the field.

"This will be my first game against Vasco wearing the Flamengo jersey. It would be wonderful to score goals and help the team achieve a great victory right in the week of my birthday," he said.

And the striker's recent record against the rival is very positive. He had been playing in Turkish football for many seasons, but he remembers well the victories he had over Vasco when he played in Brazil.

"I remember a 4-1 win where I scored three goals for Cruzeiro in 2003. The following year, playing for Santos, I scored twice in a 3-2 victory at São Januário. Furthermore, in the last round of that year, we won 2-1 against Vasco in São José do Rio Preto, with goals from Elano and Ricardinho, and we won the title. These are good memories that I hope will be repeated on Sunday at Engenhão," he recalled.
