The Brazilian Championship is not over yet, and Flamengo's objectives in the competition have not yet been fully achieved. With one round remaining in the 2010 Brasileirão, the red-and-blacks want to secure a spot in the next edition of the Copa Sudamericana. And to do that, they need to get points against Santos, away from home, on Sunday, in the 38th round.
Forward Deivid, who previously played for the Vila Belmiro team, is well aware of the difficulties of facing Santos on their home turf. Therefore, the number 99 emphasizes that it is crucial for Flamengo to give their all on the field to achieve a positive result, just as they did in last year's historic victory.
"We have to go for this victory, go for points, because our goal is the Copa Sudamericana. We know that facing Santos at Vila Belmiro is complicated. I've played there and I know it's difficult, but the championship isn't over and we need this positive result. That's why we're going all out there," said the player, who is recovering from a right ankle injury that kept him out of the match against Cruzeiro.
"I hope to be on the field, yes. It will certainly be a special game, and I am very motivated to help Flamengo achieve this result," he added.
Deivid and the rest of the Flamengo squad will report back to training this Wednesday at 16:30 PM at Ninho do Urubu. The group will train in the afternoon throughout the week, and on Saturday they will train in the morning at 9 AM before traveling to Santos.
