Football Department defines preseason location
Flamengo will work, between January 3rd and 17th, at a training center in the city of Londrina (PR)

The Football Department confirmed the location for Flamengo's professional team's preseason training camp this Thursday (16/12). The chosen location was the SM Sport training center, located at km 62,5 of the Celso Garcia Cid Highway in Londrina, Paraná. It is worth noting that the Red-Black team will operate from January 3rd to the 17th of the same month free of charge, due to an agreement with Londrina's president, Cláudio Canuto, and the city's mayor, Barbosa Neto. Furthermore, Flamengo will also have income from two friendlies, which will be held in the city on January 9th and 16th.
The deal was only finalized this Thursday, when football manager Isaías Tinoco and fitness coach Antonio Melo received the green light from coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo. They traveled to SM Sport's training center this week and brought all the information to the red-and-black coach. In fact, the report prepared by the Football Department, on which Luxa based his decision, rates the training center's facilities as excellent.
Flamengo will report to training on January 3rd and will train full-time at the club's training center in Vargem Grande. The delegation is expected to travel to Londrina the same day. The following day, full-time training will resume in the city of Paraná. The tests, which are usually performed before the start of the season, have already been performed, in some cases, during the preseason and in November, and are still valid. Those that still need to be completed will only be done after the preseason.
The SM Sport training center covers 156 square meters and features four official fields and one smaller Swiss field. In addition to field training, Flamengo's players will have access to accommodations for up to 80 athletes, a cafeteria, a sand court, a semi-Olympic pool, a gym, and a physical therapy clinic. The Flamengo squad will initially train full-time every day. Rest periods, between lunch and afternoon training, will be held at the training center.
The Flamengo delegation will not sleep at the training center, but will be staying at a hotel. The friendlies will be held at Estádio do Café, against Londrina (January 09.01) and against an opponent yet to be determined (January 16.01). The second friendly match, inclusive, will be broadcast live.
