After a draw in the Libertadores, the focus is now on Vasco

The secret to getting a good result in the classic is to rekindle last year's flame.

The Libertadores is over. Flamengo has already changed its focus and left Maracanã last Thursday (08.04), thinking about the classic against Vasco, on Sunday (11.04). And while the result against Universidad de Chile didn't do much to boost the team's morale, it at least gave the players a 'shake-up'.

Unhappy with the lack of attention that led to the draw against the Chilean team, the athletes talked and now know what they need to do to make smiles appear more often at Gávea: beat Vasco, playing like Brazilian champions.

"We have to rekindle that spark we had when we won our sixth championship last year. We need to kick the ball when we have to. To be champions, as we were, you need that. We'll show the same desire we had in the second half against Universidad de Chile against Vasco," explained Álvaro.

Even with their opponent struggling to qualify for the Taça Rio semifinals, no one at Flamengo believes the match will be easy. In the qualifying round, Flamengo won the derby 1-0 in a tough match, in which Bruno saved two penalties. Therefore, the expectation is for another tough defeat.

"They changed coaches and qualified through a tight squeeze, but that doesn't mean it will be easy. A classic is always special. Sometimes a team is down, and when they enter a game like this, they show their full potential. The old saying about not having a favorite applies," Álvaro concluded.
