A victory in the derby is always important. Winning 2-0 with the support of the Nation in a completely red-and-black stadium is even better. This is how Flamengo beat Fluminense this Thursday (7), at Mané Garrincha, in Brasília. After the final whistle, Felipe Vizeu, Rhodolfo, Thuler and Rodinei commented on the great result and the three points with the fundamental support of the Nation.
He came on and scored. Author of the second goal of the night, Felipe Vizeu celebrated another glorious night. “It’s very important to be able to help the team. Even more important is this victory. We had difficulties in the game and we know the importance of the Brazilian Championship. You have to live each round in detail; there’s no point in thinking about the end. We have to always fight, work to get these points so that, in the end, we can be champions,” said the striker.
The number 47, who is leaving for Italian football, once again celebrated his goal by pointing to the fans and declaring his love. “The important thing is helping Flamengo. I try to give my best whenever the team needs me. My heart beats very strongly, I've been a Flamengo fan since I was little and I didn't have money to go to the stadium. Today it's a source of great happiness to be wearing this shirt and bringing joy to the fans. I hope to one day return and be able to give even more,” Vizeu celebrated.
Rhodolfo, who had another solid performance, also spoke exclusively to the official website. “The team deserves congratulations for what they played today, for everyone's dedication. We're very well-organized, everyone is helping each other a lot. The defense is so solid thanks to the whole team. Diego Alves was good in goal, Léo in defense, great understanding back there. The squad is only improving. I thank the fans who came to Mané Garrincha, filled the stadium and pushed us to victory,” said the defender.
In the second half, Rhodolfo had to be substituted after feeling pain, giving way to the young Matheus Thuler. “I ended up feeling my thigh while trying to clear a ball, but Thuler's solid tackle shows that we have good defenders and that they are getting the job done. Now it's about trying to improve so I can return as quickly as possible,” added the number 44.
“I managed to get in well, with the support of my teammates. The team was doing well, playing correctly. This made it easier for me to warm up, get into the game more quickly and be able to help. It's always a great emotion to defend the Flamengo jersey. I'm a Flamengo fan and I used to go to the stands to cheer. Against Bahia, I left the game not believing in this dream. I'm very happy with the opportunity and always working towards the next ones,” said the young player Matheus Thuler.
Completing the interviews, Rodinei also spoke about the match. "Maurício Barbieri showed us all the options we had to attack Fluminense's three-man defense. Thank God, we managed to penetrate and scored two goals that came from plays down the flanks, allowing us to come away with a positive result," he concluded.
Flamengo returns to the field next Sunday (10), when they host Paraná, at 19 pm, at Maracanã. The duel is valid for the penultimate round of the Brazilian Championship before the break for the World Cup.
