Flamengo returned on Tuesday afternoon (05) and has already begun preparations for the classic against Fluminense. The red-black squad trained in the new professional module and before the start of activities, goalkeeper Diego Alves gave a press conference in Sala Victorino Chermont.

The number 1 made a point of opening the conversation with journalists by highlighting the evolution the team has been making with each game in 2019.

"We're on the rise. This adaptation phase is normal, we have players arriving. With each game we can see a big improvement. We haven't conceded a goal, that's important, it gives us confidence. We'll keep working, the year is just beginning."

The Guanabara Cup semifinal will be against Fluminense next Saturday at Maracanã. The goalkeeper spoke about the match, which is scheduled for 19 p.m.

"Very important. A huge responsibility against a rival, a decisive derby. It's a different week, it stirs the fans' emotions. We'll remain steadfast in our work, our focus. It will be the first of many important games. We'll try to win."

The start of the season has been a lot of work for Abel Braga and Diego Alves took the opportunity to praise the new manager's style.

"We have a commander, Abel. He has demonstrated from the beginning how he will work. I think it's important (to rotate). Games are exhausting. It's always positive to have a healthy competition for the team to grow. Those who aren't playing now may be in the future."

Finally, the goalkeeper praised the harmony between the team and the fans in the first challenges of the season.

"We have to continue this journey with the fans. We are stronger with them. What they've been doing since last year is absurd. We know how passionate Flamengo is around the world. We have big goals, and we want to show that we are ready."

First day of work at the new CT

It's a pleasure to debut the new room. I'm still a bit lost (laughs). I'm happy with the wonderful structure. It's our first day together in this module, and it's a special day for us.

Many goals from inside the box

Every coach has their own method. Abel is implementing his style. He likes the team to be vertical and have a lot of players in the box. We work daily to perfect it. Now he's leaving. We hope Gabigol does it soon, and Vitinho too. Everyone.

Dispute for positions in the squad

Abel was clear, saying whoever's better will play. He's consistent and knows how to handle it. You have to fight for a spot every day.

Position mates

We have excellent professionals (goalkeeper training). That helps. The goalkeeping team is also very good. The results are coming. We work very hard.

Debut in the Libertadores

There's plenty of time until the Libertadores debut. We have other important games beforehand. We need to think about Fluminense, who have a new style. When the Libertadores comes, we'll focus.
