Before the last training session for the classic against Botafogo, goalkeeper Diego Alves spoke to the press in a press conference held at Ninho do Urubu. On the afternoon of this Friday (20), the number 1 spoke about the importance of adding the three points at Maracanã.
"Both teams will be fighting for victory. We know the importance of scoring points, but we have to keep working. We have important games coming up. There's no choice. Regardless of the position, these will be very difficult matches."
Diego also commented on the responsibility of taking to the field defending the lead in the Brazilian Championship.
"We always go in to win. If we're not top, we have to win to climb the table; if we're fighting relegation, we have to win. Everyone wants to be in our situation."
Coach Maurício Barbieri will be without midfielder Everton Ribeiro, who received his third yellow card against São Paulo. Diego Alves lamented the loss of the player, but assured the coach will find the best solution for the classic this Saturday (21), at 19 pm, at Maracanã.
"It's never good when you lose an athlete. Whenever you lose a player at the level of Everton Ribeiro, it's bad, but Maurício will know how to work with that well."
