Diego Alves hasn't conceded a goal in 510 minutes and is already third in history

Flamengo is enjoying a great season, and besides playing well, they're also achieving positive results without conceding a goal. Goalkeeper Diego Alves is proof of this. After a 0-0 draw against Ponte Preta at Maracanã in the Copa do Brasil, they've gone 510 minutes without conceding a goal. The number 1 spoke about the impressive mark he achieved with Flamengo in games valid for the Brasileirão, the Copa do Brasil and also the Conmebol Libertadores.
"I'm happy with the achievement, but not satisfied, because we can always improve. We work very hard every day to get to games and play our best football. I, personally, am feeling very good physically and technically. The longer we go without conceding a goal, the better for Flamengo. It's everyone's job; it shows that our defense is strong. We need to stay focused to stay that way."
The red-and-black defense's numbers are even better. The "Mais Querido" haven't conceded a goal in their last six games, totaling 600 minutes without conceding a goal. Diego Alves's numbers aren't the same, as it was Julio Cesar who defended Flamengo's goal against América-MG.
"Julio Cesar was an excellent goalkeeper, undisputed. And he's part of this statistic too, with merit. He had a great game against América-MG. It was a great honor to work with him at Flamengo."
Wearing the Flamengo shirt in official matches, Diego Alves is behind only Cantarele, with 630 minutes in 1974, and also César, with 595 minutes at the start of the current season.
To further increase this important milestone, Flamengo will face Chapecoense next Sunday (13), away from home, defending the leadership of the Brazilian Championship. The ball will roll at Arena Condá at 16 pm.
