Midfielder Diego Ribas da Cunha signed a three-year contract with Flamengo. The 31-year-old athlete from Ribeirão Preto will be presented at the club's headquarters in Gávea, this Wednesday (20), at 17 pm, in the Salão Nobre.

Diego enchanted Brazilians with his football at a young age, playing for Santos, where he joined the professional squad at just 16. At 17, he was one of the standout players in the club's Brazilian championship victory. In 2003, he made it to the senior Brazilian national team and, the following year, won the 2004 Copa América at the age of 19—and a second time in 2007. At 20, he already had a Club World Cup under his belt, won with Porto-POR.
From Portugal, the athlete moved to Germany, where he played for Werder Bremen (2006-2009). His arrival at the team couldn't have gone better, winning the German League Cup and receiving the Bundesliga's best player award for the 2006-2007 season. His performance earned praise even from one of the greatest players in history, "Kaiser" Franz Beckenbauer. For the German club, Diego made 132 appearances, scoring 54 goals.

For the Turkish club, he scored seven goals in 57 appearances.
