Flamengo entered the field needing a victory to end a troublesome streak of negative results and also to stay at the top of the table. With this objective in mind, the team outplayed Chapecoense throughout the 90 minutes of the match this Sunday at Arena Condá, in the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship. In the end, Diego decided, and the "Mais Querido" won 1-0, securing all three points and fulfilling the mission. The score was fair for the team that pushed harder, had more possession of the ball, and when it needed to recover from a bad moment, kept its head on straight. Now, Flamengo prepares for the match against Bahia, next Thursday (19), at Ilha do Urubu, at 21 pm. 

Flamengo started the first half well, looking to score early. But this created space for Chapecoense, who were counting on a packed Arena Condá to apply pressure and counterattack. But the first move fell to the team from Gávea. In the fifth minute, Éverton Ribeiro received a cross from Trauco and found Guerrero, but goalkeeper Jandrei got there first and prevented the ball from reaching the Peruvian. Cuéllar fired the rebound into the defense. Ten minutes later, Diego had a good free kick just outside the box, but his shot went straight into Jandrei's hands. 

Flamengo was enjoying the game. Arão and Everton Ribeiro exchanged one-twos, and the ball fell to the left foot of the number seven, who looked for the corner but shot over Chapecoense's goal. With more possession (53%), Flamengo was rarely threatened, but they also failed to find the shot to open the scoring, and the first half ended 0-0. 

The second half began with a bang, with the home side creating a good chance. Reinaldo crossed for Túlio de Melo, who headed the ball down, but Diego Alves made a great save. Pará then surged down the right and opted to shoot instead of cross, and the ball went wide safely. Flamengo, the better side, had another great opportunity in the 10th minute. Diego dribbled past Jandrei but looked for Guerrero instead of shooting. 

The Peruvian had his best chance in the 20th minute, with a free kick just outside the box. The wall was too close, making it difficult to take. Guerrero tried to find the goalkeeper's right corner, but the ball went too high. And in the 27th minute, the best chance came. Guerrero shot at goal, but the ball hit Douglas's hand inside the box. Everton Ribeiro took a penalty down the middle, but Jandrei fell and collected the ball. 

The game was heading for a draw. That's when Diego appeared. Arão made a great pass to Berrío on the right. The Colombian held onto the ball and waited for the number 35 to arrive in a position to pass. Diego received the ball, adjusted it, and shot past Jandrei, opening the scoring in the 34th minute. Flamengo still had another chance to extend their lead, through Berrío, late on, but they didn't need it. The victory was assured and three points in their bag.
