On the morning of this Friday (20), at the CBF headquarters, in Barra da Tijuca, the coach of the Brazilian National Team, Tite, called up 25 players for Brazil's next two commitments: friendlies against Japan, in Lille (FRA), on 10/11, and against England, in London, on 14/11.
Among those called up is Diego, number 35 for Flamengo. Having missed Brazil's last two World Cup qualifying matches due to injury, the midfielder returns to the group and remains firmly in the fight for a spot on the final roster for the 2018 World Cup.
The call-up comes shortly after a great performance against Bahia. Having scored two goals, Diego thanked the Flamengo fans for their support, crediting them with his recovery.
"It's natural and clear that we need them (the fans). As I said in the press conference recently, I received a lot of criticism, which is normal, but I also received a lot of affection. And today (yesterday), when I picked up the ball to take the penalty, the fans shouted my name. So the least I can do is show my respect to them," he emphasized.
