With an eye on maintaining the lead in the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo will face Santos this Wednesday (25), at 21:45 pm, at Vila Belmiro. On the eve of the clash, midfielder Diego spoke about the good moment that Mais Querido is experiencing and the evolution of the entire group under the command of Mauricio Barbieri.

"Our growth was predictable. Maurício has been doing a spectacular job. This gives us confidence. The team's improvement brings out the individual brilliance of each person. The desire to achieve our goals also shines through. I feel like I'm evolving."

Diego commented on the match against Santos and also on the style of play that the group has displayed throughout the season.

"We don't change depending on the opponent. We have a defined way of playing. During the game, teams sometimes create difficulties and force us to change our style of play; that's natural. We have to be aware of this. We go to Vila to impose our style of play, but we're prepared to change if necessary. The way to take advantage is to run hard, to go after it—that's what we'll do. I don't see an ideal way for the team to play. The goal is to win."

Finally, the number 10 spoke about Flamengo's center forwards and the tests that Barbieri has been doing in training at Ninho do Urubu.

"It's necessary. The team that's there will always be the one to beat. We understand what Maurício wants. Sometimes changing positions, but without changing the characteristics. We have to have solutions, and we have them during the game."
