Diego Maurício celebrates good performance against Cruzeiro
The striker believes he has proven his worth to the new coach and says he is ready for new opportunities at Flamengo.

Striker Diego Maurício was a pleasant surprise for Flamengo in last week's match against Cruzeiro in Uberlândia. Not even the center forward himself expected to start the match against Raposa, but he was chosen by Flamengo's new coach, Silas, to replace the injured Diogo, and he did not disappoint. He ran, dribbled, shot, and left a good impression on his manager.
"It was great because I didn't expect to play. I trained during the week, I was coming back from an injury, but I got the opportunity, God blessed me and I did my best. I tried to help the team in the best way possible and I was happy with my performance, doing my job and trying to help the team. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving without the win, but I believe I played a good game," said Diego.
In a team that now has strong competition for a spot in attack, with Diogo, Deivid, Leandro Amaral, Val Baiano and Cristian Borja, Diego continues to work hard in search of a place in the sun and warns: when the opportunity arises again, he will try to give his all.
"When an opportunity arises, you have to take advantage of it. I was happy with the praise I received, but I know I have to keep working. Football is about the moment. I respect all the forwards here; they are experienced players, but I hope to have new opportunities to play, regardless of the time, and I will show my football to the best of my ability," said the number 49, who revealed that he is learning a lot from the more experienced players in the group.
"I'm learning from them. Whether I'm training as a starter or not, and working with more experienced players, I've been learning a lot. That's important to me. Evolution comes naturally, with consistency and hard work," he added, having become the last Flamengo striker to score in the Brasileirão, in the 1-1 draw with Avaí.
