Diego Maurício celebrates goal scored against Guarani

Amongst so many experienced players in Flamengo's squad, fate would have it that the feet of a young striker were chosen to shine this Saturday (20.11). Diego Maurício, 19, started the game on the bench, perhaps as an option for the second half. But Deivid was injured before the 20th minute of the first half and coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo immediately brought the youngster into the game.
It couldn't have worked out better. With a strong desire and aware of the importance of this weekend's match, he took to the field moving a lot, seeking the attack and trying to create as many chances as possible. For this, he was rewarded in the 31st minute, when he scored the second goal for the red-and-black team of the match. An achievement he celebrated.
"I'm very happy to help, happy to have scored this goal at such an important moment. I'm very dedicated and I thank coach Vanderlei for this opportunity. I knew how crucial a positive result was here today and I'm pleased to have helped the team achieve it," he said.
A deeply religious man, Diego also thanked divine power for this blessed moment. Identifying with the red-and-black fans, the number 49 also emphasized how important this support was throughout the game.
"I celebrated by thanking God, who is wonderful and has done so much for me. I also dedicate this to the fans, who are wonderful. They did their part, as they always do, giving the team a lot of support, and they deserved this result," he concluded.
This was the center forward's fourth goal for Flamengo's professional team. His debut was on May 23rd against Grêmio Prudente, when he performed well and won a penalty in the Flamengo's 3-1 victory.
