Diego Maurício and Galhardo are called up to the under-20 team
Young red-and-black prospects will represent Brazil in the category's South American Championship, at the beginning of 2011

Flamengo was named to the Brazilian U-20 squad, which will compete in the U-20 South American Championship in Peru from January 16 to February 12. Right-back Galhardo and forward Diego Maurício were the Flamengo players called up by coach Ney Franco.
On his way to Flamengo's professional team training session when the call-up was announced, right-back Galhardo heard the news from the Official Website team. He was thrilled to be representing Brazil.
"It will undoubtedly be a great opportunity to show my potential. I'm very happy. I was waiting for the call-up, and representing the Brazilian national team is always special. I'm very happy for myself, for Diego, and now I just have to show up and try to do a good job there," said Galhardo, who received congratulations from his teammates.
"Congratulations, Galhardo! And happy holidays!" joked midfielder Renato, as the competition will be played in early January and the players will have to prepare in December. Other friends also made a point of congratulating their young teammates, including Marquinhos, Negueba, and David.
The competition, which qualifies two teams for the 2012 London Olympics and four for the 2011 Colombia World Cup, will be held in the cities of Tacna, Moquegua, and Arequipa. Brazil is in Group B, along with Paraguay, Colombia, Bolivia, and Ecuador.
Brazil's debut will be on January 17th against Paraguay in Tacna. On the 20th, in the same city, the opponent will be Colombia. Bolivia will be the opponent on the 23rd, in Moquegua. The final match of the qualifying phase will be against Ecuador, again in Moquegua. The schedule has not yet been confirmed.
Group A consists of Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Three teams from each group qualify for the final stage, which begins on January 31st, with all matches played in Arequipa.
