The new starting striker for Flamengo, the young Diego Maurício, just 19 years old, is increasingly establishing himself in the Rubro-Negro's main team. Praised by coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, he doesn't hide his satisfaction at experiencing a good phase, both individually and collectively.
The center forward sees the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship as the time to get back on track and try to finish the season achieving the goal set by the coach: to reach the 2011 Copa Sudamericana.
"There are eight games left. We have this intense battle to finish the year on a high note," he said.
The number 49 jersey wearer says he is happy with his current form and knows that the competition for a place among the starters is tough, but healthy, with more experienced competitors such as Deivid, Diogo and Val Baiano.
"I'm happy for the opportunity to help the team on the field. The competition for a spot in the attack is healthy. There are high-level strikers like Deivid, Diogo, and Val Baiano. I'm happy to be able to help," he added.
