Diego Maurício out of the match against Ceará

Injured striker ruled out of Saturday's game by the medical department

While coach Rogério Lourenço will have Leandro Amaral's debut in Flamengo's starting attack, he will lose an option on the bench for Saturday's match (14.08), against Ceará, at Maracanã. Young Diego Maurício, who scored the last goal for Flamengo in the Brazilian Championship, in the 1-1 draw with Avaí in the 10th round of the competition, is out of the match with pubic pain.

The club's medical department ruled the striker out of the match, but the injury is not serious. According to Dr. Walter Martins, the striker should be training normally with his teammates on Monday (August 16.08).

"He's out. He felt a lot of pain, but I don't think it's serious. He won't need any imaging tests or anything like that. He'll just have treatment, and I believe he'll be better and training normally by the beginning of next week," he said.

The striker also spoke to the team at Flamengo's official website and lamented the fact that he was left out of such an important match.

"Unfortunately, I won't be able to play. I felt a lot of discomfort in training this week. I'm upset about being left out, but that happens. Now I have to get treatment and return to training with my teammates next week," said the striker, who expects a good and healthy fight for a starting spot.

"We have Leandro, who is an experienced player and from whom I can also learn a lot, as well as Val Baiano and Borja. I believe it will be a good, healthy fight for the position, and the one who stands to gain from this is Flamengo," he concluded.
