After all, when he was ten years old, he competed in a tournament, wearing the Flamengo jersey, at the institute's headquarters in Guadalupe, in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro.
The striker even brought a photo to show the organization's president, former Flamengo and Brazilian national team player Jorginho, who was surprised and grateful for the tribute.
"Wow, that's great! I didn't know that," she said, smiling.
Flamengo's number 49 also spoke about the championship and made sure to record the reunion with Jorginho with a photo.
"I played in the Bola Pra Frente tournament in Guadalupe, about nine or ten years ago, on a five-a-side football field. I think I was ten years old. It was a championship where I played for Flamengo and beat Vasco in the final. Jorginho and Bebeto presented me with the trophy," he recalled.
Diego, who, like the children served by the project, had a difficult childhood, urged young people who dream of a great future in the world of football not to give up fighting for their goals, regardless of any difficulties they may face.
"Overcoming challenges is the key to everything. I know that today I am an example for these children and I try to do everything to project a positive image and leave this message of overcoming obstacles. I tell everyone to never stop believing in God and to trust that dreams can indeed come true," he concluded.
