On Saturday morning (15), midfielder Diego was successfully operated on at the Samaritano and Vitória hospital complex, after an injury to his right knee suffered in the match against Atlético-PR, valid for the Conmebol Libertadores Bridgestone. Head of the red-black Medical Department, Dr. Márcio Tannure spoke about the surgery, giving an overview of how the star's recovery will be.

"Athlete Diego was admitted yesterday here at Samaritano Hospital for his surgery this morning. An arthroscopy was performed to treat the meniscus injury, and then we'll treat the medial collateral injury in physical therapy. Everything went well. He underwent surgery by a medical team that included, in addition to myself, Dr. Rodrigo Furtado and Dr. Gustavo Caldeira," said Tannure. "He's expected to be discharged today, and he'll begin physical therapy on Monday. We believe he'll be able to return to his training routine in four to six weeks," he added.

The midfielder will return to CT George Helal, in Vargem Grande, this Monday (17) to begin the physiotherapy process.
