Diego expresses his gratitude and thanks the fans: "They gave a masterclass in how to support."
The number 10 scored the third goal of the afternoon and commented on the crucial presence of the fans.
By Mariana Sa - inWhen he arrived, Diego was greeted by a packed airport and in the arms of those he always wanted to be with. The Nation welcomed him that day and, on the afternoon of this Sunday (29), it was his turn to throw himself into it once again. At 27 minutes of the second half, a spectacular header made the number 10 extend the advantage and close the score at 3-0 against Ceará at Castelão. In celebration, he ran the entire field to reach the sector designated for Flamengo, threw himself into the crowd and revered them.

“At no point did I think about leaving here. Maybe I can't show it, but when I chose to come here, I was decided. It's a dream come true. If I have to be escorted to wear this shirt and do my job, I'll feel comfortable doing it. It's a wonderful club, I'm very happy to be here,” said Diego.
Then, the number 10 spoke about the turbulent moment he experienced when leaving Rio de Janeiro, but took the opportunity to, once again, express the value of the Flamengo Nation. “Nothing will change. I love them and I will never forget the moments they gave me. There was aggression, but we can't generalize. Flamengo's fans are wonderful. We would like to reciprocate more, but we don't always manage to. We may miss the mark, but never through omission. We have to step up and fight so that there are other days like today. The fans gave a lesson today on how to support,” he declared.
The next red-black challenge will be on Wednesday (2), at 19:30 pm, when Flamengo faces Ponte Preta at Moisés Lucarelli for the Copa do Brasil. For the Brazilian Championship, Mengo hosts Internacional on Sunday (6), at 16 pm, at Maracanã.
