Diego Tardelli wears the red and black shirt

Striker Diego Tardelli was officially presented on Thursday afternoon (17/01), at the Windsor hotel, as Flamengo's newest reinforcement for the disputed 2008 season. The athlete received the number 11 shirt from President Márcio Braga and promised to bring much joy to the red-black fans.

"I want to thank Flamengo's management for the trust they've placed in me. It's a huge honor and responsibility to play for a club like Flamengo. I hope to bring a lot of joy to the Flamengo fans," said the new signing, who signed a five-year contract with the Gávea club.

At 22 years old, the young striker hopes to establish himself as one of the idols of the red-black fans, and consequently get a place in the Brazilian National Team, which will compete in the next Olympics.

- "I want to be in the Olympics, and that only depends on me. I'm sure that by playing well for Flamengo I will compete in the next Olympics."

The player praised Flamengo's history and said that wearing the red and black shirt is a dream for any player.

- "When I received the invitation from Flamengo, I didn't think twice, because it's a club with a great history. I'm fulfilling a dream of many athletes, which is to play in the Libertadores Cup wearing the red and black shirt."

Diego Tardelli is 22 years old and has already played for São Paulo, São Caetano, Betis-ESP and PSV-HOL.
